Identifying Wild Plant #762487

Asked July 19, 2021, 9:18 AM EDT

I have a plant in my yard that I cannot identify (edge of Williamson and Travis counties).  I have asked multiple resources, and the only suggestions are an aster or Johnson grass, neither of which are a match.  The images attached show the plant after being mowed a few times (whorled out and scraggly) and also allowed to grow unencumbered.  The tallest one I have is about 4 feet tall.  No blooms so far.  The stems and leaves are smooth and somewhat thick.  Young leaves are rounded at the ends, but as they age, become more pointed and slender.  I do not necessarily need to remove it, but I would like to know what it is. Thank you for your time!

Hi Lisa,

I used my plant identification app on my phone.  Possibly lance leafed coreopsis, Coreopsis lanceolate. A North American species of tickweed in the sunflower family.
