Dogbane #762350

Asked July 18, 2021, 10:25 AM EDT

How do I get rid of dogbane and how did it get in my garden? I suspect the mulch that was put down by an outside source. I live in Kent county.

Kent County Delaware

Expert Response

Dogbane is an aggressive plant native to North America. It flowers and produces seeds, it also spreads by creeping roots.  The ability to spread by creeping roots makes it difficult to control by digging it out. This fact sheet contains detailed information about dogbane and pictures of the plant.    https://www.oardc.ohio-state.edu/weedguide/single_weed.php?id=40

Glyphosate will provide good control.
