Which Ponderosa Pine Blight #761210

Asked July 12, 2021, 8:10 AM EDT

Hi, I'm not from Minnesota, but I did buy some already diseased trees from a nursery in Parkers Prairie and (cringe) transported them to Maine in a box truck. Your disease writeups are remarkable, thank you for that excellent resource. The fungicide application suggestions vary slightly and I want to make sure I have the right blight targeted. The needles on my trees don't exactly match UMN's photos. Could you take a look at the attached and venture a guess as to what condition mine might likely be? Thank you for your help, Sean.

Expert Response

Hello Sean,

I consulted with our U of MN Extension advisor and here's her recommendation with a link.

Technically, we do not know if the issue was on the trees they transported or if it occurred once the trees had arrived in their
state. I would think the disease experts in Sean's state would want to know about this.

My best advice is to refer them to the UMN Plant Disease Clinic for a diagnosis and follow up with a disease clinic / Extension pathologist at their local university.

Good-luck!
