Slime mold? #758790

Asked June 28, 2021, 10:47 AM EDT

I have found a mass behind some rocks in my yard. Quite large, beige, consistency of thick peanut butter. Coming out of black soil in a mass of creeping Charlie and native plants. Wondering what if anything I should do?

Expert Response

Thank you for writing.
It could be a slime mold but it is a bit odd.
Here is some information for you.  https://extension.umn.edu/lawn-care/common-fungi

I am going to ask some others to take a look and will be back to you.

I checked with some others.  This is not common but it is called Dog Vomit Slime Mold.  Harmless and temporary.
