Despite your beautiful photo, I can't quite see the spot where the berry was detached from the cane.
Look at the side of the fruit where it was plucked from the stem. Black raspberries leave a piece of the inside of the fruit on the stem from which they’re picked, so they have a hollow core.
With blackberries, the entire fruit comes off the stem, so they’ll have a white or green core where they were attached to the stem.
Raspberries prefer cooler temperatures and don't tend to thrive here in the piedmont, whereas blackberries tolerate the heat just fine.
