identify a pest #757545

Asked June 21, 2021, 4:42 PM EDT

I found this beetle? in my garden and cannot identify it. I have searched on line but without knowing species, pretty hard. It resembles a boxelder but without the black "wings" on the upper body. If you can identify, please assist and what method of extermination/pesticide would work? I am unable to convert heic to jpg so I cannot upload a photo. sorry!

Expert Response

A few insects that are active and somewhat resemble boxelders include Fourlined plant bugs (pest), Assassin bugs (beneficial), and Mirids (some beneficial and some pests). If you are able to, you may send a photo by email to <personal data hidden>. There are also free online options to convert HEIC to JPG with one option of https://heictojpg.com/.
