Yes, I see that. I can only see four legs but wondered if there were four more underneath that plate-like thing with the brown spikes. When I zoom in, it gets blurry. Spiders have eight legs but insects have six and from the look of the back legs, it looks like it could be those of a beetle or cricket-like creature.
I'll understand if you no longer have the creature to check for legs. Sometimes we simply want to let it move on.
As gardeners, we really try hard to ID bugs because we encounter them all the time but sometimes, it's difficult. I'll be looking for this in our bug mug shots in the meantime.

Found it! It's a female Spiny-backed orb weaver. It catches small insects in it's web that it spins each night. Here is more information and photos about this spider.
