Oak Wilt Financial Support? #757391
Asked June 21, 2021, 9:33 AM EDT
Do you know of any programs that are addressing oak wilt and providing financial support? Specifically, I'm looking for programs that provide financial assistance to get trees examined by a certified arborist and treated to stop the spread of oak wilt.

Hi Summer,
Currently, there is no financial assistance available for oak wilt. Oak wilt has specific symptoms, and if your trees are not exhibiting those symptoms, and they neighboring trees continue to be healthy, there may not be a need to have trees assessed for oak wilt. Oak wilt symptoms usually present in July or August in infected trees; the leaves begin to turn brown, or grey and fall off the tree. A test for oak wilt comes back positive only during the leaf falling stage as that is when the fungus is active in the water conducting tissue of the tree.
I attached a bulletin about oak wilt. If you continue to have questions after reading through the material, please feel free to respond to this thread or contact me directly.
Thank you,
Julie
