What’s eating cherry laurel #757158

Asked June 19, 2021, 9:29 AM EDT

Not sure what’s going on but noticed white nest- do you know what it is and how to rid it?

Monmouth County New Jersey

Expert Response

That white nest is not likely to be a problem. You can peel it open and see what's inside- could be a caterpillar. Whatever it is will be minor.

The most common laurel pests we hear of that can become a problem are sucking scale insects, which would be on the stems. Yours look clean.
