Damage to Palo Verde trees #756929

Asked June 17, 2021, 9:27 PM EDT

I have something damaging my Palo Verde trees in Henderson, Nev. It seems like it might be damage from an insect but I haven't seen any. One tree is an established Desert Museum Palo Verde. One is a sapling Blue Palo Verde. I am including some photos. Let me know if you have some ideas on the cause. Thanks!

Expert Response

I would suggest sending a few more photos and contacting the local Las Vegas office about your Palo Verde. It could be older damage showing from the possible disease on the larger branch. On the smaller, there are several different battles that can cause branches to die back, and then other animals and predators will go after the insects inside the branch.

I believe the contact ML Robinson will be able to advise you further and provide recommendations to prevent future damage.
