Yesterday I noticed bees going in and out of a gap left by the heat pump electrical cord going into the siding. They look like tiny bumble bees. Do I need to worry about this or would they just nest for the summer and then we could seal off the gap?

Expert Response
Yes, it would be best to conserve them and let them live through the fall. The workers will die with the cold and the queen will go elsewhere. The nest is not reused from year to year.

Thanks Christine. Do they look like small bumble bees to you?
They do look like bumble bees, yes, but there are numerous bumble bee species in our area and we can't see enough identifying details to tell which these are.
