Found this on a dead ash tree in my backyard I thought died because of Winter Kill. Is this an Emerald Ash Borer?

Expert Response

Hello and thank you for contacting the Douglas County Master Gardener program.    In looking at the photo that you submitted, I was unable to verify that it was an Emerald Ash Borer.  I first looked in the " Gardner Insects of North America", second edition, page 434.  I then used Google to find some pictures that I have attached.

Another great resource is the Colorado State University Extension Office.  They have a very good library of useful information related to all kinds of gardening topics.  I have attached the fact shee related to the emerald Ash borer.  https://cmg.extension.colostate.edu/emerald-ash-borer-resources/ .

I hope this information  is helpful.

Thank you for contacting us.
