Expert Response

The method of water glassing eggs is not considered a safe method of preserving eggs by the USDA. The current food safety recommendations for farm fresh eggs include: Collecting eggs frequently (at least twice a day); discarding damaged or defective eggs; washing or cleaning fresh eggs and storing the in the refrigerator for 4-5 weeks. For long term storage, you can freeze fresh eggs by selecting fresh eggs and cracking each egg open individually to inspect. Learn more about freezing eggs at https://nchfp.uga.edu/how/freeze/eggs
