Can you ID this grass? The roots are somewhat stained from my colored mulch. This comes up through the lDewitts landscape fabric and 4” of mulch. I prefer not to use Roundup, haven’t found anything to kill it. #754865

Can you ID this grass? The roots are somewhat stained from my colored mulch. This comes up through the lDewitts landscape fabric and 4” of mulch. I prefer not to use Roundup, haven’t found anything to kill it. I have found the roots go several feet.

Hi Colleen,

I can't make an ID based on this photo you sent. But if it's growing in landscape beds, your options are:

1. Pull it

2. Heavily mulch it

3. Use chemistry like fluazifop or sethoxydim (sold as products like Grass Be Gone, Over the Top II, Grass Getter). These are selective herbicides that will kill grass, but not injure broadleaf plants. They are ONLY LABLED for use in landscape beds.
