Mystery Substance on plants and surfaces #754397

Asked June 06, 2021, 11:23 PM EDT

Not sure what these white spots are. It is a granular like substance on leaves table and cushions in one area of my backyard. Slightly under a crabapple. Also I recently discovered one of the plants this substance is on is an invasive species... Japanese knotweed which is disappointing because I loved it as a privacy screen (until it moved in the lawn and down the yard).

I am unable to identify what this could be despite your many photos. Another master gardener suggested using a magnifying glass (10x) to view to see if it appears to be mold, pollen, sap, etc..
