Identify plants found in low area of pasture #754262

Asked June 06, 2021, 9:49 AM EDT

I found the plants on the attached picture in an area of our pastor that is low. Wondering if you can tell me what they are?

Expert Response

Horsetail.  It is toxic to horses, sheep  and cattle if they eat the stem so you will want to get rid of it.

Hi Mary,
We have llamas in this pasture, do you know if it poisonous to them?

Also, do you know what the other plant is?

Thanks, Mary!

They are younger versions of horsetail.  Notice the stem similarities.  Check with your vet regarding lamas and poisonous plants.  They probably have a list or a website that would be helpful.
