A scrub oak has been invading my leaching field. We cut down and dug out as much as we could a few years ago and treated it with vinegar. I just now noticed that it is growing back. I will not use Round Up as I am on well water. Any ideas?

Expert Response
Scrub oak is sometimes referred to as Gambel Oak (Quercus gambelii); our primary recommendation is to continue trying to dig out as much of the root system as possible. There are other chemical means and few additional mechanic tools that can be used; these are discussed on page two in the following link: https://extension.colostate.edu/docs/pubs/natres/06311.pdf
