What is this plant? #754038

Asked June 04, 2021, 4:44 PM EDT

I have noticed last spring and this spring the plant in the photo attached. It is less than 2 feet tall and grows like an asparagus and then sends out hair like projections. It is in and around Brookings. If you can identify it I will be most grateful. Thank you.

Thank you for your question, John.  This is one of the oldest plant species on earth:  horsetail.  This article describes it and its control:  https://wric.ucdavis.edu/information/natural%20areas/wr_E/Equisetum.pdf

I hope this is helpful.  Good luck!
