Struggling Cucumber Plants #754026

Asked June 04, 2021, 3:49 PM EDT

Hi! I'm a first-time raised garden bed gardener and transplanted a few veggie plants that I bought from a local farm. Most are doing well, but my two cucumbers are looking sad. I covered them during the cold spell and am watering only when soil is dry. Any other tips? No visible insects, just wilty and dry/yellowing leaves. Photos for reference. Thank you! :)

Thanks for your question regarding cucumbers.

I believe that recent cold temperatures at night might have shocked them a bit. The leaves also look bleached out. I suspect that they may have been in some type of enclosure at the farm from which you purchased them. When young leaves of many plants are subsequently exposed to intense sunlight, the chlorophyll in the leaves can be bleached out. At this point I would just wait and see what happens. Often plants are able to recover from such events as these. See the following on growing cucumbers in Minnesota:

Good Luck
