Way too many flying bugs… #753917

Hi there, it seems as though we have an infestation of flying insects that are in swarms everywhere hundreds of them all throughout the yard… we have called pest control and no one can figure out what the bugs are the suggestion was we catch one and contact you to see what can be done any and all help would be appreciated

The photo of the insect is somewhat blurry and difficult to identify. Would you be able to take a clearer one and also have a coin or something next to it for size comparison? Thank you.

Another master gardener suggested you may have fish flies. These are active this time of year and swarm. They typically show up prior to mayflies and are comparable to their volume. I could find no information about reduction of them aside from suggestion to replace outdoor lights with yellow bulbs. The yellow bulbs have been shown to attract less at night than white light.
