Tent caterpillar problem #753757

Asked June 03, 2021, 1:02 PM EDT

I am writing for a friend who lives at 1292 us rt 7, waltham, vt. His name is Ricky Premo, and he has a horrible tent caterpillar problem on his 10 acres. They are all over his oak trees and have now inhabited his maple trees that he taps. Who could he speak with that could help him figure out what to do with them? His home number is<personal data hidden>.

Expert Response

Hello Jeff:

Without seeing a photo, I'm taking a guess that your friend is dealing with the recent infestation of Gypsy Moths, like so many other folks who have contact us. The Extension Entomologist just created a fact sheet specific to this outbreak (it's particularly bad this year) and I have attached it here. I hope her information is helpful.
