Holly disease #753701

Asked June 03, 2021, 10:25 AM EDT

Please tell me why my once healthy, “Burford”  holly bushes are dying.
The leaves start slowly turning gray until the plant is dead.
I cut off affected “black” stems from the others to no avail.
I also treated one with a fungicide. I’m at a loss.

Yellowing all over is not a good sign as it is probably going to die. It could be that the roots are rotted unfortunately. Before cutting back you can scrape the branch with your fingernail. If what you see if green underneath, then it should flush back out in the spring. In the meantime, now is the perfect time to do a soil test around them.

Hope this helps.
