When did this damage occur, recently? Did it occur gradually or all at once? Did it occur after a frost or winter?

Tip browning like this usually indicates either sun scorch, winter damage, or poor drainage. If the new growth comes out looking healthy, I would think this is one of the first two options and the plant will be fine. If the new growth is not coming out well, check the drainage, planting depth, and root health.
