Found fuzzy fern looking plant under my trees #752980

Asked May 30, 2021, 5:39 PM EDT

I've never seen anything like it before, I tried looking it up but had no luck. Hoping it's a fern and it will sprout more.

Thank you for your question.  The plant appears to be attached to other plants by (red) stolons.  Ferns do not have stolons.  How large are the leaves?  Are they fuzzy on the undersides?  Have you observed any flowers?  Thank you for more information!

Nope, not attached to anything else; the small red branches (and any other tiny branches) are what fell from the birch it's growing under.
Those are catkins on the ground around it and it's also growing behind a viburnum bush/tree, and there are I believe mallow that are growing back near there as well. The width of each branch is 3/8 to 1/4 inches, it's only just started growing so no flowers yet if any, it was about 4 to 5 inches tall yesterday but today it 6 inches and has sprouted more fronds (?). The undersides appear flat, went out earlier today to see better and have included more pics. I've never seen anything like it, the yard was left unattended for quite a few years before I bought it so, there's a lot of wild growth popping up.

Thank you
