Red pine cones? #752727

There are red cones on this pine tree, as seen in the pictures. Such cones have never been seen before this spring. This tree is on the property of a family which has owned it for over 50 years. The red cones seem usual and rare. I'm wondering about the explanation for their occurrence.
Cones of conifers come in lots of different shapes and colors. The conifer in your photo appears to be a spruce not pine. The red color is a genetic characteristic. I believe this spruce maybe Picea abies "Acrocona"

As the summer progresses they will turn brown.
Thanks for your answer. The first time I asked this question, the request went to an Extension service in Louisiana. The reply came back that perhaps the photo had been altered.
Guess they don't have conifers in Louisiana!
