Tree ID #752562

Asked May 27, 2021, 3:16 PM EDT

I'm not sure who to contact about this and I'm hoping you can point me int he right direction. I can't find any contact info for anyone in the master gardener program. We are looking at removing some trees on a property in White Bear lake. The city is telling us that they require us to get a tree identification, circumference of each tree and a total count for each type of tree. Then get a value for the trees and provide a plan to replace with similar value of trees. Our first step is to identify the trees. Who can we contact with pictures or take a sample of leave/branches to in order to identify? We were told in the past that they were "junk" and "weed" trees, but we still need to identify them somehow. Any guidance or contacts for other people or departments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jim Hering

You can submit photos of leaves, bark and full tree to this Ask Extension to see if master gardeners are able to identify. If you have numerous trees that need identifying I would recommend contacting a local tree care company and asking an arborist to come to identify.

I'm enclosing a picture of the leaves and the bark.  There is one cluster of 5 (same rrot/stump), on cluster of 2 or 3 and 1 stand along.  all have the same leaves. We were told that they are "junk" trees, whatever that means. Thanks you for your assistance.

The tree in your photo is a Boxelder. Below is a link with further information about this tree.
