What’s this plant? #752498

Asked May 27, 2021, 11:34 AM EDT

Hi, We purchased several native plants last year and one of them has outgrown (already!) its space. I can’t seem to find the tag for it which I thought I left in the ground next to it. I thought it was a wild geranium but it doesn’t look at all like the pictures I see online. It is growing runners out over our path and I would like to move it or thin it out. but first I need to know what it is so I can decide an appropriate location. It is in a sunny location now. I have included pictures. It bloomed earlier with small round yellow flowers. Thanks for your help. Louise Jankowski

Your plant most closely resembles a creeping buttercup, which is considered to be a weed.  See https://extension.psu.edu/lawn-and-turfgrass-weeds-creeping-buttercup

Hello,
Thanks for your help. I did find the nursery tag which said “Swamp buttercup “ Ranunculus hispidus. Since it spreads so much, I removed some of the plants and moved a few to other places.
