Asked May 25, 2021, 7:58 PM EDT

I have a BUNCH of holes in my yard. I believe its from a skunk digging for grubs. My lawn care company insists there is no current grub activity t. there was a skunk removed from my yard this morning. is there somebody the can inspect my yard and prove the wrong? thanks in advance

Expert Response

Unfortunately Ask Extension policy is not to do onsite inspections (not enough resources).  If your county has a park system maybe there is a naturalist who might be able to make a visit or suggest someone who can.

You can check fir grubs yourself by removing several one square foot pieces of turf and soil and looking to see if any white grubs are observed.  less than ~12 per square foot won't hurt a healthy lawn but may still attract skunks and raccoons to 'dinner'.
