New lawn will not fill in #751989

Asked May 25, 2021, 9:47 AM EDT

Landscaper planted fescue for years ago and has over seeded three times and still will not fill in. Built new log home and have six acres of a total mess. He also didn’t clean seeder and now have clumps of fescue in my bluegrass. Don’t know where to turn for help. Jackson Minnesota. Brad Mohns<personal data hidden>

Expert Response

Hi,

I actually think it looks pretty good, except for the clumps. Here is what the U says about restoring a lawn: https://extension.umn.edu/lawn-care/renovating-lawn-quality-and-sustainability

You might consider a low input lawn: https://turf.umn.edu/low-input-lawns It won’t be as “perfect” looking, but there are many advantages.

There are clumps on fescue in my bluegrass.
Looks like a cow pasture!!!
The fescue he planted does not fill in and there are bare spots 6 to 10 inches in diameter.
So ruff that you can’t sit on a mower.
Do you have a constant that I can hire?
