roses in the mountains #751801

Asked May 24, 2021, 1:26 PM EDT

I have a floribunda rose bush outside my apartment in Granby, CO that was planted before I came (3 years ago) and has bloomed every year so far. This year I do not see signs of life. I think it is still alive because the stems are red. I have been watering it with my other perennials. I pruned it lightly a couple weeks ago. Shouldn't it be getting some leaf buds by now?

Expert Response

Roses need to experience warm sunny days to begin producing buds in the spring. I recommend to continue watering it regularly and allow some more time to pass. You should know in about three weeks time if the plant is no longer viable.

Thank you for your advice.  My roses are budding out at last.  I will be more patient in the future.  Pat
