Expiring Bugs #751679

Hello. This is likely an obvious bug, but I've looked at every likely candidate on the U of M Extension site and cannot make a match. They are showing up on the concrete by my front door when the sun is out and the temperature has gone up past 75. Six to seven at a time, most are dead or dying. This is a photo of one that was still moving. My suspicion is that they are harboring some place that is getting very hot when the sun is out but I cannot find that someplace. They are not obviously coming out from the ceiling above my front door or the siding or along the foundation (slab foundation - no basement or crawl space). Thanks in advance for your assistance. We just moved into this townhouse last July and I do not want to find an infestation of anything but we need to know. Steve Braun, Rochester, MN

Expert Response
This appears to be a May/June Beetle. The damage, if there is any, would be to the grass/turf. See: http://cues.cfans.umn.edu/old/Web/245MayJuneBeetles.pdf
Aha! Those are the buggers (pun intended). Thanks for your reply. I suspected they were retreating to the shade and coolness of the concrete in front of our door and expiring there. Thanks for your help. Steve Braun
