Hello. I have a tree in my property that appears to be not producing leaves correctly and has huge clumps of buds that it’s never had before. I believe it is a locust tree. It is huge and well established. I was wondering if someone could take a look?

Hi Tracy, The buds that you are seeing on your honeylocust are closed flower clusters and they look normal in appearance. Here is some additional information on Honeylocust: https://landscapeplants.oregonstate.edu/plants/gleditsia-triacanthos
In general the flowers on Honeylocust are insignificant so we don't always notice them.
Thanks,
Oh that’s great news! The leaves just look so much smaller and thinner this year so I was worried.
Thank you!
