Worms in apple trees #751622

Asked May 23, 2021, 3:24 PM EDT

My apple trees in Menominee county were severely damaged by worms last year. The worms are back, and here is one. What do Ido?

That caterpillar looks like it could be the "oblique-banded leafroller" but there are many similar species.  It is unusual for these to be numerous for two years in a row, because there are many predatory insects that feed on them.  Some pesticides work well if you can get the spray to where the caterpillars are, but since they often roll or tie leaves together with silk, it is difficult to get sprays to the caterpillars.
