Green things on tomato leaves #751545

Asked May 23, 2021, 9:47 AM EDT

Hello,

I have been finding several of these green things on my tomato leaves and am wondering what they are and if they could be harmful?  Thank you!

Expert Response

It appears to be an insect pupa.  What insect is unknown.  You could snip off the leaves and put them in a jar with holes in the lid.  If the insect turns out to be beneficial, let it go.  If not...well, you know.

Thank you!  I used the link you sent and found my answer - they are hover fly pupae.  Beneficial, yay!
