White blob in garden #751226

Asked May 21, 2021, 8:40 AM EDT

Good morning, I am attaching photos of white blobs I am seeing in my garden this morning. The blobs a very bright white and look sort of like shaving cream, only much more firm. Can you help me identify this? Ellicott City

Expert Response

We have looked at your photos and can not tell what you have there. We tend to think that it is not living or biological in origin.

We can't really tell size from your photo but suggest that you use a stick or something to flip it over and look underneath and see if you find any further clues. Look around at the plants and stems nearby. (It's a very long shot, but if you find a  gooey reddish substance, send us a photo, which can be attached to this reply, and search 'Indian wax scale').

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll look a little more to see what I can tell.

Thanks again.
