Can you please tell me about the center of these limbs? My friend insists that it is disease. I beg to differ. This tree looks healthy as a whole. Your images show some discoloration at the center of a limb that has been removed from a large tree. Hard to tell if this is maple, sweetgum, or Sycamore. The discoloration may be indicating the beginnings of a heart rot but it does not look very extensive. Your tree may do just fine for many decades before there is an issue. I would let the branches tell you if there is a problem.
A branch over the house with poorly growing leaves or shoots, fluid flowing from where the branch meets the trunk, or fungal fruiting bodies would be much more cause for concern. You could look here for maybe a little more info:
