How to control weeds in my lawn. #750934

Asked May 19, 2021, 5:18 PM EDT

Please help. I replaced my yard by removing old sod and dirt underneath last year. I replaces it with compost and Colorado Blue (supposed to be drought resistant compared to Kentucky Bluegrass), from Green Valley Turf Company and I pulled weeds last year by hand and applied weed and feed in the fall. With all of the rain my grass is growing fast, iI try to follow the mow no more than 1/3 rule. I didn't get pre-emergent herbicides on the grass. I just read that on your site. So, I need a post emergent weed killer. I don't think it needs fertilizer because it is growing super fast and lush green. I haven't watered at all, yet. I have a dog. So, I'm not fond of harsh chemicals but weeds are coming back. I'm especially concerned about controlling the morning glory or bind weed that I dug down almost a foot last year to remove. It is coming back- no blooms yet. I have been battling that morning glory/bindweed stuff for 20 years now. And replaced my yard twice. I can't afford to replace it again and need to learn how to control my yard. I also have some thistle, dandelions and other weeds. Should I just pull all of them out or tis there a bio friendly weed/pest killer? If the bio friendly one isn't strong enough I will use chemicals or whatever is needed to control the morning glory/bindweed stuff. I've been aerating by hand (2 hole step aerator core tool). I'll include photos of what I call the morning glory/bindweed stuff and you could please let me know if that is what it is called.
