Nitrogen fertilizer for veggie garden #750827

Asked May 19, 2021, 10:55 AM EDT

I had my vegetable garden soil analyzed, and was it came back lacking only in nitrogen. Suggested I add 33-0-0 fertilizer. I am having trouble finding 33-0-0. I found one that is 20-0-0. Can I used more that recommended to get to 33-0-0?

Thank you for writing.

Please tell me the area of your garden in square feet and the pounds of Nitrogen needed per 100 square feet that is on the report. If you wish, you can take a clear picture of the soil report and send it to me.

It is a very small garden 4 ft x4 4ft raised garden about 12 inches deep.

I have enclosed a photo of the report and raised garden.

Thank you for writing back.  You have 16 square feet and need .1 pounds per 100 square feet.

Nitrogen needed is .1 pounds x (16/100) = .016 pounds.  This is a very small amount and I suggest an organic fertilizer would easily meet your needs.

Blood meal is 12% Nitrogen. A pound and a half would have .18 pounds of N and be just perfect. https://thenutrientcompany.com/blogs/horticulture/npk-value-of-everything-organic-database

Or to keep it simple you could simply add any 2 pounds of any 5-x-x fertilizer and you would do fine.

I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your help!  Much apprecIated.
