Unknown Plant #750676

Asked May 18, 2021, 3:25 PM EDT

I pulled this out of the compost pile. Don't know what I threw in there that would produce this. It has hard nodules on the roots. Thanks.

Expert Response

This resembles a potato or tomato (largely the former)...did any food scraps with seeds or "eyes" (growth buds on potato tubers) get added to the pile?

Miri

I thought it looked like a potato.  Don’t think there were any potatoes tossed in.  The nodules, or whatever they are called, on the roots are hard.

Perhaps a wild animal left it there after finding a potato (or potato scrap) in another yard. The tubers (nodules) are hard because they are still very immature.

Thanks for the info and quick reply.
