Brain-like Growths On My Shrub #750169

I noticed 2 clumps and some brain like fungal looking growths on the branches of one of my bushes - boxwood I think. I could hardly pull the 2 growths off by hand. I noticed the brown furry growth too along the length of the branches-not sure if that is a normal part of the branches or not. See photos. Thank you.

Hello Kim,

Thank you for your question. Your shrub, which looks to be Wintercreeper or Euonymus fortunei has a disease called Crown Gall which is caused by a soil bacterium. Read about it and how to treat it in the following article by the Missouri Botanical Garden.
