Sunny dry cemetery location, planting Mandevilla in a large pot placed in a 3 ft tall stand. Do I have to trellis it, or can I plant it without and let it spill/trail down? Would this affect blooming? Any special care required?

Given no support a typical mandevilla vine will probably trail or ramble but whether the effect will be pleasing is another matter.
According to horticultural experts Older varieties of mandevillas were all climbing vines, but some newer varieties offer attractive mounding habits and don't need supports to climb up.
No special care is needed.
