Tree loosing bark rapidly #749828

Our tree is rapidly loosing its bark , why?

Hello

There are many reasons a tree will lose its bark. Cankers, frost cracks, sunscald, mechanical injury are some.

Unfortunately if you can see bare wood then usually that section of trunk is dead. If you can attach a few pictures I might be able to tell more. One picture should be taken far enough back so I can see the whole tree. A second picture should be a close-up from about 1 to 2 feet away showing the problem. And a third picture should show the soil around the base of the trunk.


Please include some history of the tree, such as how long ago was it planted, or is it a tree that’s been there many years? Have you given the tree any kind of fertilizer?  Have you given extra water in the past year, especially when it has been hot and dry? Has any digging or other major change happened within 10 feet of the tree?

I will watch for your pictures and further information.
