Expert Response

Hi Diana, "the bee hazard icon and accompanying label information are designed to provide warnings and information that will allow chemicals to be used against pests while protecting pollinators from exposure". This information from Mississippi State University Extension.

So to check for bee hazard, simply means to read the label on any chemical before applying it to determine whether or not it can cause problems for honey bees and bumblebees. This is part of a nation wide effort to reduce bee poisoning from chemicals applied in the landscape.
Then I think this warning should be reworded.  I asked several nursery attendants what it meant and was told "it means to warn people about bees so they don't get stung".  Maybe add it should be reworded to something such as    "Check chemicals for bee hazzard"  Just a thought, because it obvious most people who 'just work' in nurseries don't know what it means.  Thank you for your response.  Diana Hopson
