Should I use Landscape fabric. #749488

Asked May 12, 2021, 1:33 PM EDT

We are putting in a Garden In a Box. We had the grass removed today. Is there any reason to put in Landscape fabric?

Hi again,

If you're putting plants in the area, I would not suggest using landscape fabric. It's not very good against weeds, it tends to decompose, and it's difficult to keep mulch on it (because it's slippery). Instead, we recommend just placing a thick layer of wood mulch (4-5") directly on top of the soil. It will break down and add organic matter over time.

Landscape fabric also clogs and doesn't allow for oxygen/moisture exchange into the root system of the plants.
