Water Well Testing #749462

Asked May 12, 2021, 11:30 AM EDT

Hello, I am moving to Alvin and my house has a water well. I wanted to see about having my water tested for bacteria, but also metals, minerals, pH, hardness, ect. How do I go about scheduling this and what is the cost?

Brazoria County Texas

Expert Response

Howdy!

Thank you for your inquiry! Brazoria County's Water Testing Lab can conduct a bacteriological test on your well water. They only test for Total Coliform and E. Coli. I believe the fee is $10 per sample. This is the website to the water testing lab. It has all the contact information to contact the lab and instructions on how to take a sample of well water and not risk contamination of the sample. Website: https://www.brazoriacountytx.gov/departments/health-department/water-lab

To have your well water tested for minerals, cations, anions, heavy metals, ETC you can got to the Texas A&M Soil and Water Testing Lab's website and download the form. The website is: soiltesting.tamu.edu This website will have all the necessary instructions for submitting a water sample. I have also put a PDF version of the water sample testing form in my response.

Once a water sample as been submitted to the Soil and Water Testing Lab at Texas A&M the results will be sent to you.

Finally, you may want to visit the Texas Well Owners Network's website at twon.tamu.edu for more information.

Good luck and don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions.
