There are many boxwood that would fit your 36" height requirement; a few varieties are Green Gem, Antarctica and Faulkner. You'll have to determine if you want a conical/upright or mounded habit. Visiting some of the independent garden centers like Plants for All Seasons, Arbor Gate and Cornelius will allow you to see what is in stock and if it will meet your needs.
