Tree wound #747563

This wound is on a maple tree and the result of a heavy pruning maybe 12 or so years ago. My question is “Would it benefit the tree to fill the wound with something now and if so what would I use. There’s a pen in the pic for size reference. It’s about a foot across. Thank You for your help! Mike
