I need help identifying this nest and determining whether to leave it alone or remove it. #745935

These are pictures of a nest that appeared about 3 days ago on my apartment patio. As you can see, the nest is on solid ground and connected to a flower pot. The nest appears to be made of silk, and is in a tent/funnel type shape. The silk doesn't appear to be thick. When I first noticed the nest, there was something small and dark in it, that pulled into itself when I blew on it to see if it was alive. I was unable to discern it's shape, size, exact color, or any appendages. It did, however, appear to have what looked like a transparent wing, but I'm not sure. Now, two days later, the black thing is no longer there, and there is a bright yellow (what I believe to be) cocoon, with random black splotches. The cocoon is much larger in appearance, and appears to be smooth and oblong-shaped. It doesn't respond if I blow on it.

This looks like a insect or arachnid egg sac. If you are a fan of the E.B. White classic, Charlotte's Web, you know what happens next.
