Fruit tree pests #745803

Asked April 23, 2021, 4:40 AM EDT

Hello. I have purchased a property with a 6-7 year orchard that is struggling. We had no fruit the last 2 years and I would like to have some better success this season. What pests are the most prevalent in our area (Warren County) and with what and how often should I be spraying my trees? I have 2 peach trees, 4 pears, 8 apples. We also recently planted 2 mulberry trees, 8 Paw Paw, and 2 persimmons.

Expert Response

Hi,

Since you're having problems with everything, I would suggest having your soil tested if you haven't had that done.  There might be an underlying soil problem.  I don't know specifically which pests are prevalent in Warren County but I am sending a fact sheet with information about spray schedules for peaches, pears and apples.  It covers both insect pests and diseases.

Persimmons and mulberries seem to be pretty problem-free but I'm sending fact sheets on those.  There are potential problems with pawpaws; I'm sending a fact sheet on pawpaws.

Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
