post bloom - daffodils #745411

Is one way better? Post bloom fold the leaves back and put a rubber band around them OR cut the leaves off 4 inches high or so?

Expert Response

Thank you for your question.  Neither.  Leave leaves alone so they can photosynthesize as much as possible to return carbs to the bulb to provide next year's 'food'.  Remove leaves only after they turn yellow.  Removing or crimping leaves may "look better" but that will ensure small bulbs and leaves, and smaller (if any) blooms.  Good luck!
